Guests and Visitors
a. A Guest is defined as a non-member accompanied at the Club by a member,
whose conduct and charges are the responsibility of the member. There is no
limit to the number of times such member accompanied individual may be
present at the Club except when access to the Club is restricted to certain
categories of membership (e.g., the annual and semi-annual meetings).
b. A Visitor is a person not accompanied by a member who is granted limited
Club usage and privileges as hereinafter described.
c. Invitational Visitors – During an invitational event hosted by the Club, such as
a regatta/regatta related activity, fundraiser, seminar, sailing camp, swim meet,
etc., use of the Clubhouse and facilities, in such a manner and to the
extent as is appropriate for the particular event, will be extended to
unaccompanied visitors and their attendant family members. Such use shall be
in addition to any use provided in sections (d) and (e) below.
d. Non-Resident Visitors – When requested by a member, the Club may extend
use of the facilities to a non-resident visitor (non-member living outside of the
40 mile limit). For each individual non-resident visitor, this privilege is limited
to a maximum of seven days in any consecutive 12-month period, unless
extended or curtailed by the House Committee or an officer of the Club. The
member introducing a visitor shall be responsible for his conduct and for any
debts incurred by him to the Club.
e. Visiting Members of Recognized Clubs – In addition to times covered above
as an Invitational Guest, the Club may extend the privilege of use of the
facilities to visitors who are members of clubs recognized by this Club (upon
presentation of evidence of such membership and appropriate identification):
i. outside a forty mile radius of the SYC flagpole, and who have no
residence or regular place of business within that radius, for up to seven
days in a 12 month period;
ii. inside a forty mile radius of the SYC flagpole or have a residence or
regular place of business within that radius for up to three days in a 12
month period.
f. The Governing Committee has discretion to waive, modify or extend the above
rules for any Visitor or Guest.
g. Visiting Members will need to obtain a guest card from our reception office. Any food, beverage, or gift shop charges need to be settled while at SYC with a credit card. Items in the gift shop that are reserved for member purchase only are the club burgee, ties, and belts.
