New Member Proposal

Club members are encouraged to propose like-minded friends and family for membership. If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please contact the Membership Development Committee for assistance: [email protected].

Candidates must be proposed by two sponsoring members over the age of 28, one of whom must be a voting member (Active, Senior Active, Honorary Life). Sponsors must follow the steps below to successfully propose a new member.

  • The Proposal Process
    • Submit the Proposal

Submit the completed Membership Proposal Form, signed by both sponsors. The candidate's name and identifying information and the names of both sponsors will then be advertised to the voting membership for feedback. This must be done at least thirty days before the proposal can be considered by the board.

      Visit the Club

In the meantime, if the candidate is unfamiliar with the Club, bring them out to meet the officers and board members, and other potential supporters.

      Gather Letters of Support

Solicit letters of support for the candidate from several other members (4–6 is recommended, more is fine). These letters should be addressed to the Commodore and transmitted to the club by hand, mail, or email at [email protected].

      Contact a Board Member

In advance of the next quarterly membership meeting of the Governing Committee, solicit a board member to put forth the proposal for consideration.  A proposal is only considered at the specific request of a board member.

  • What Happens Next?
    • Outcomes

The possible outcomes of a Governing Committee membership meeting are acceptance, rejection, or no action. Positive outcomes are in everyone's best interest and outright rejections are rare. If there are problems with a proposal, the sponsors will be contacted about what remedial action can be taken.

      Acceptance

When a proposal is accepted, the sponsors are notified first and, within several days, the Club will contact the candidate directly about initiating their membership. The candidate has one calendar year to act on their acceptance. Upon payment of all required dues and fees, the candidate will become a member!

      Welcoming New Members

New members and their sponsors are invited to a quarterly orientation and welcoming party hosted by the Commodore and their names are published in The Tell-Tale.
