The series of women’s
races on the Gulf Coast that comprise the Women’s Trilogy Trophy began this
weekend with the Bikini Regatta hosted by Navy Yacht Club. The GYA Women’s PHRF
Championship was sailed in conjunction with the Bikini Regatta and included one
additional race on Sunday which was hosted by Pensacola Yacht Club. Six boats
competed in the spinnaker division with all female crews. Two boats were racing
under the Southern Yacht Club burgee: CLOUD 9.1 and HOT CHOCOLATE. Additional lake sailors
were on SUPERDUCK and a non-spinnaker
boat, SEABREEZE. SUPERDUCK, helmed by Susan Danielson from Pontchartrain YC, won the
Bikini Regatta with 2 bullets on the first day.
Lake Pontchartrain sailors were well-represented at this event
and our women racers sailing list came in handy as boats were looking for
experienced sailors to round out their crew. Please consider adding your name
to the list by sending an email to "email@example.com".
