Pearson Potts wins Club 420 North American Championship |

 Southern Yacht Club's Pearson B. Potts, Jr. and crew, Caitlin Connerney, from Ida Lewis Yacht Club, Newport, RI are the 2010 C420 North American Champions. The Club 420 North Americans were held July 20-23 in Brant Beach, NJ, with 111 competitors. Consistent finishes over the 14 race series (12 scored), included 4 - 1st Places, 1 -2nd Place, and the others were in the top 7.
Pearson and Caitlin both attend St. George's School in Newport, RI have been competing in the New England area preparing for the North Americans, the upcoming Youth Champs, and Bemis Finals. So far this summer they have won The Brooke Gonzalez Advanced Racing Clinic (Sail Newport, RI), The Coastal Living Regatta (Newport, RI), 112th Larchmont Jr. Race Week (Larchmont, NY, (2 years in a row)).
Immediately following the Club 420 North Americans in NJ they raced to arrive in Falmouth, Massachusetts to compete in the Falmouth Regatta to qualify for US Sailing's Sears, Bemis, and Smythe Championship in the Bemis Division, which will be held in San Diego, California.
Later this week they leave to together to compete in the US Sailing Youth Champs which are to be held in San Pedro, California. Potts and Connerney have been training/sailing with the FAST Foundation - Club 420 program with coach Federico Lopez from Argentina.
