GYA Inter-Club Competition Boat Demonstration

The GYA Inter-Club Competition Boat Demonstration Weekend will be held November 22 and 23 at Southern Yacht Club beginning at 9:00 a.m. on each morning. All are welcome to come and observe and even participate in the demonstration during various portions.

At this point it has been determined that there will be a rigging and launching exercise for each of the boats on Saturday morning between 9:00 and 12:00. There will be a lunch open to everyone, for a small fee, at which lunch each of the boat manufacturers will make a small presentation of three to five minutes. The afternoon will be dedicated to structured sailing where committee members will be able to get on each of the prospective boats for a thirty minute exercise which will include a box course for the boats to be put through their paces.  On Saturday evening there will be an informal buffet dinner in the grill area which all are invited to attend as well.

On Sunday the committee will complete the exercise begun on Saturday afternoon and thereafter there will be open sailing available for any interested takers. The committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to discuss their thoughts, however, no decision will be made at that point, just observations and discussion. We are certainly hoping for good weather so as to be able to complete the exercises and again, all are invited to participate to any extent they desire. There will be a spectator boat available.
