PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. — SYC won the 2018 GYA Knost Regatta in rare form with a clean sweep of six bullets in the six-race event, hosted by Pass Christian YC. This "perfect" team consisted of skippers Jeanne Herman, Miia Newman and Kaity Potts and crew Clerc Cooper, Hartley Meric Crunk, Caroline Meric, Claire Housey, and Marguerite Christman. This was the first year sailing the new GYA Capdeville Viper 640 yachts. Click image to enlarge.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Randy Smyth's Farrier 25C trimaran, YO!, has smashed the Gulfport to Pensacola Race course record with an elapsed time of 6h:44m:02s. This is over three hours faster than the previous record set in 2015. Gene Walet's 23-year-old monohull record, set aboard SAGA, a N/M 68, was bested by four boats led by John Dane III's WAR CANOE (Melges 32) with an elapsed time of 8h:23m:09s. The overall corrected time winner is Benz Faget on Doug Dovie's MacGregor 25, EVIL INTENTIONS. Click thru for more.

GULFPORT, Miss. — Burt Benrud's Melges 32, ROUGAROU, has represented SYC in the last ten GYA Challenge Cups. In five of those years, she has won Class A and with it, the Buddy Friedrichs Trophy — most recently this year, skippered by Johnny Lovell (pictured with Burt and crew). Unfortunately, New Orleans YC fielded a strong team and was able to end SYC's ten-year winning streak of overall Challenge Cup victories. Click image for results.
