SYC Pursues Resolute Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - Skipper Marcus Eagan and crew, Jackson Benvenutti and Andrew Eagan, are representing Southern YC in New York YC's newly re-christened Resolute Cup. This event is held in even years to determine the U.S. representatives in NYYC's Invitational Cup, an international yacht club challenge held in odd years. This year's Resolute Cup is being sailed in both Melges 20s and Sonars. Click image to follow the event.

UPDATE: (9/16/16, 1325) After being tacked-upon no less than four times in the first beat, Team SYC was in last place at the first weather mark.  Following a scorching run and finally finding a clear lane upwind, SYC is in second place heading to the finish of Race 2 of the Gold Fleet Championship series, sailed in Melges 20s.
UPDATE: (9/16/16, 1255) SYC lead at every mark to win the first race of the Gold Fleet Championship series, sailed in Melges 20s.
UPDATE: (9/15/16) SYC remains in first place and has clinched one of ten berths in the Championship Gold Fleet to be sailed in Melges 20s over the next two days.  The Preliminary scores do not carry over.
