New course record for Gulfport-Pensacola
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Mike Patterson and Henry Langhorne of Pensacola Yacht Club broke the 21-year-old elapsed time record for the Gulfport to Pensacola Race aboard BELAFONTE, a Corsair 31R. The Ian Farrier designed trimaran posted an elapsed time of 9 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds for the 100 mile racecourse, a mere 26 seconds faster than the prior record set by Gene Walet and David Gyer's Nelson-Marek 68, SAGA, in 1994.
