Breezy Race to the Coast challenges fleet
GULFPORT, Miss. - An eighteen-boat fleet combined for hundreds of tacks to successfully navigate The Rigolets in a building southeasterly breeze in this year's Race to the Coast. All the hard work was rewarded with a delightful jib-reach across the Mississippi Sound to finish in record time at Gulfport. Patrick Waring's Beneteau Oceanis 45, PURSUIT, dominated the affair with a remarkable first-to-finish time of 4:46pm. The next boat would not cross the line for over forty minutes!

2015 Race to the Coast

UPDATE: (June 18, 2015) - After reviewing his on-board GPS navigation track, Patrick Waring discovered that he had failed to leave one of the required marks to the proper side in the Northshore Channel.  He subsequently contacted the Race Committee and retired from the race.  This particular infraction does not represent a significant advantage gained on the racecourse, so PURSUIT's performance in the race remains an impressive accomplishment.

Burt Benrud's J/111, ZYDECO, is the overall and Bugs Avegno trophy winner and DEMITASSE, a J/27 skippered by Patrick Ryan, is the PHRF B winner.  The revised results are linked below.
