Team SYC impressed with new IC37
NEWPORT, R.I. — SYC's Invitational Cup Championship Defense team attended their first practice regatta using NYYC's twenty newly-launched IC37s. Skipper Andy Lovell says the boat feels like a small TP52, with its broad beam and wide-open cockpit. The team had a solid start and first beat, but Lovell had to gybe away at the crowded weather mark, ultimately rounding near last place. The team rose to the challenge, grinding their way back to a second place finish! That was the best possible outcome according to the age-old rule of "Never win the practice race!" The Rolex NYYC Invitational Cup will be held on Sep 7–14.
