Junior Program looks to spark Olympic aspirations
SYC's history in the Olympic Games spans nearly eighty years and four Olympic Medals, but it's now been ten years since Johnny Lovell and John Dane waved the Stars and Stripes at the Summer Games in China. Today there are no local campaigns in the works, but there is lots of potential. Lovell and his wife, Katy, have joined forces with several other sailing parents to develop SYC's youth sailing at all levels of competition, up to and including the Olympics. The Lovells are responsible for bringing the NACRA 15 Midwinters to SYC next month and to open that event, SYC will host the Youth Sailing Trends and Pathways seminar with three experts in youth sailing development: John Pearce, Leandro Spina, and Greg Fisher.
