SYC NAMES NEW GENERAL MANAGER

(Friday June 29, 2018 ) — Joseph “Lee” Stall, formerly general manager of the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club, has come aboard to lead Southern Yacht Club as General Manager starting July 2, announced Commodore Guy Brierre.

“We are truly fortunate that Lee was available after more than 31 years at the Lawn Tennis Club to fill the huge gap in our club leadership,” said Commodore Brierre. “I encourage all our members to introduce themselves to Lee and welcome him to our club and our family,” Brierre added.

“I am excited to join a very special organization like Southern Yacht Club. I look forward to the challenge of preserving the heritage of 169 years while providing all members with the highest level of service,” said Stall.

Founded in 1876, the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club is the oldest private, member-owned tennis club in the Americas.

Stall worked at the club since 1987, rising to become general manager supervising all aspects of the organization, including food and beverage operations, the pro shop, finances, human resources and special events. He also managed some ten renovation projects totaling more than $5 million over a quarter of a century.

A graduate of Brother Martin High School, Stall studied in the Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Department of the University of New Orleans, one of the country’s most acclaimed college programs in club management. He is a guest lecturer for the club management course at the UNO department.

Before joining NOLTC, he worked as assistant manager of the Pickwick Club.

He has been active in the Club Managers Association of America, serving twice as president of the organization’s Pelican Chapter covering all of Louisiana and Mississippi. He has been a member of the CMAA Honor Society since 2007, was nominated as Club Manager of the Year in 2000 and 2001 and holds CMAA designations of Certified Club Manager and Certified Chief Executive.

Lee and his wife Suzy live in Harvey, La. They have two sons, Zack 26 and Clayton 23.
