SYC's TRIPLE D's traveled to Fairhope Yacht Club over the weekend of May 19–20 and won the 2018 Quantum Melges 24 Gulf Coast Championship.

Saturday saw ideal 7–13 knot conditions with 5 races sailed and TRIPLE D's jumped out to a solid 3-point lead on Saturday, but Sunday saw light and fluky winds that brought the fleet closer.

Competition was tight with six different boats winning a race and only 1 point separating the top 4 boats.  TRIPLE D's held on to win a tie breaker over ROCKET SCIENCE, a notable Corinthian team from Dallas.  Another local team, KRYPTONITE, won the tiebreaker for third place, also over another good Corinthian team from Dallas, GRINGO.
